Anti-Plagiarism (Turnitin)
Turnitin provides instructors with a web-based plagiarism detection service to identify suspected acts of plagiarism. As an available tool within Canvas, the application checks submitted documents against its database and websites to identify unoriginal content. It can also be used in formative assessment to help students learn to avoid plagiarism and improve their writing.
Antivirus
The University of Nebraska offers Cortex XDR by Palo Alto to protect computers and data against malicious attacks, viruses and malware.

Canvas
Canvas (by Instructure) is a cloud-based learning management system (LMS) that is currently used by more than 700 colleges and universities. Canvas is the LMS at the University of Nebraska, all four campuses (UNK, UNL, UNMC, UNO) are using Canvas for teaching and learning.
Data Center Hosting
Information Technology Services' Networking and Operations Center combines some of the functions of the networking and systems groups into an extended-hour center to maintain the NUnet backbone and the central services provided to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Degree Audit (UAchieve)
The Degree Audit is a computer generated document outlining a student's undergraduate academic progress. This document uses a student's UNL coursework, transfer coursework, and courses in progress in order to determine a student's progress toward degree completion.

Firewalls
A firewall is a software or hardware-based network security system that controls the incoming and outgoing network traffic by analyzing the data packets and determining whether they should be allowed through or not, based on a rule set. A firewall establishes a barrier between a trusted, secure internal network and another network (e.g., the Internet) that is not assumed to be secure and trusted.
GoURL short URL service
The GoURL service allows the creation of short URLs to UNL or other web pages. Un-authenticated users are limited to linking to UNL websites. Authenticated users can create custom aliases to their content and modify the target URLs, which can be either UNL or non-UNL pages. Advanced features include Google Analytics campaign tracking, and authenticated users may maintain, edit and release the URLs you have created under your UNL login account.

Grouper is an access management system used to create and manage groups which control access to resources.
High Performance Computing
The Holland Computing Center (HCC) has significant resources in two locations: the Peter Kiewit Institute (PKI) at Omaha and the Schorr Center at UNL. Personnel are located in each location to assist users, engage students and researchers, and maintain systems.

IP address management
DNS is the "directory" for machines on the Internet. It is the mapping between host names and IP addresses. ITS provides the primary DNS service for unl.edu and affiliated sub-domains.
IP TV
Internet Protocol television (IP TV) is the delivery of television content over Internet Protocol (IP) networks. This is in contrast to delivery through traditional terrestrial, satellite, and cable television formats. Unlike downloaded media, IP TV offers the ability to stream the source media continuously. As a result, a client media player can begin playing the content (such as a TV channel) almost immediately. This is known as streaming media.
IT Status
IT Status is an online dashboard and notification tool that communicates ITS service outages, maintenance and current status updates to a general campus audience. Individuals may subscribe to any or all ITS services and receive email or text notifications.
ITS Billing Services
ITS Billing Services (powered by Pinnacle) helps the University of Nebraska manage voice, data, cellular and other campus IT expenses on a single platform while simplifying charge-back of related services
Knowledge Base
The NUITSM Knowledge Base (KB) is designed for users to search and resolve common help desk issues.
LDAP
ITS supports an LDAP directory server for authentication and informational purposes. The directory contains information on UNL faculty/staff/students.
Learning Spaces Classroom Support
The Learning Space team designs, cycles and supports all multimedia equipment in UNL's General Purpose rooms.

MyPlan Online Advising System

MyRed
MyRED is the student information system portal at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.
MyUNL ID Password Claim/Reset
The My.UNL ID system manages a single set of a username and password – establishing valid credentials for each person at UNL. These credentials are used to access UNL campus services, as well as services from external partners that have federated access with the UNL campus.
Network card registration
Information Technology Services requires that all computers used on campus have their ethernet hardware address registered in the building the device primarily used in. Registered computers are given a consistent IP number and DNS name.
Network port activation
Currently all buildings on campus are wired with CAT-5 wiring, and are capable of connecting to the campus ethernet.
NU-ITSM Ticketing system
NU-ITSM is a general purpose incident tracking system (trouble ticketing) for the University of Nebraska. Information Technology Services uses it to track individual and system issues, problems and service requests.
Office 365 | Microsoft Campus Agreement
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln assesses a fee on any <b>new</b> computer or tablet purchased for departmental use and capable of running Microsoft Office to cover the cost of the Microsoft Campus Agreement.

The Official Nebraska Huskers iPhone app with all the latest in Nebraska Athletics in a simple, interactive interface on your mobile device.
One Button Studio
The UNL One Button Studio is a simplified video recording setup that can be used without any prior video production knowledge. The design of the studio allows you to create high quality and polished video projects without having to know anything about lights and cameras. You only need to have your VidGrid account active before using the OBS. All videos will be available in your account after recording.
Online Shopping - UNL Marketplace
The UNL Marketplace is an eCommerce service offered to units across the university. UNL Marketplace was developed to provide all UNL organizational areas with a single, robust infrastructure for online transactions integrated with the UNL website. Imagine your own storefront, inside a UNL e-commerce "mall."

Telecommunications handles numerous phone services, including departmental service, dorm service, pagers and VoIP.
Before relocating your phone, please contact Information Technology Services at 402-472-3434 or telecom@nebraska.edu to update your location information. Accurate location information is essential for 911 emergency services.
To better ensure that emergency responders are able to quickly identify the location of an emergency, in the event you need to call 911, your first choice should be to call from a wired-line phone or cellular phone. If you do choose to call 911 from a soft-phone, you will need to stay on the line with 911 dispatch to confirm your exact location.

Residence Hall Network (RESnet)
ResNet offers Internet access support for persons staying in the UNL Residence Halls. We can help you install the software necessary to use the campus network.
Scanning Services
Scanning Services offers a variety of testing and scoring services for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and other non-university users. Faculty and graduate teaching assistants can use Scanning Services for the scoring and analysis of Scantron-based ("bubble-sheet") tests, surveys, and teaching evaluations.

The Cybersecurity and Identity team, a division of Information Technology Services, offers free online IT Security awareness education for faculty, staff, and student workers.

The UNL Web Framework is the foundation for UNL's website, and is primarily maintained by the Digital Experience Group (a partnership of University Communication and Information Technology Services) in collaboration with the Web Developer Network.
UNL WebAudit (website QA reporting)
UNL WebAudit scans sites for code validity, accessibility, broken links and UNLedu Web Framework versions.
UNLchat (constituent-chat system)
UNLchat, integrated within the UNLedu Web Framework, is a constituent chat system similar to LivePerson that allows UNL units to respond to website visitors' questions and comments within a live text-chat session.
UNLcms Web Publishing System
UNLcms is a web publishing (content management) system which provides content creators a greatly simplified way to create and maintain websites for their college, department, unit or student group.

UNLevents is UNL's event-publishing system for departmental and public events.

UNLprojects is a project management and collaboration tool based on activeCollab.
Verizon Cellular Service
If you are a current student, faculty, or staff, you are eligible for specialized Verizon plans only available to UNL.
Virtual Private Network (VPN)
A virtual private network (VPN) creates a secure connection to NU networks. You may be required to use a VPN in order to access certain computer systems for work or class. Once you connect through the VPN, you will be able to access your campus resources at Kearney, Lincoln, and Omaha remotely in the same manner as if your device was physically on campus.

Server virtualization is a server hosting service where multiple servers can reside on a single physical host system.
Vulnerability Scanning
Information Technology Services uses vulnerability scanning to help identify and prevent malicious activity on computers connected to a network.
Web Application Firewall
A web application firewall limits administrative access to a web application and helps prevent common malicious attacks like SQL injections and cross-site scripting.

cPanel is an easy-to-use control panel that gives web hosts, and the website owners they serve, the ability to quickly and easily manage their servers and websites. cPanel facilitates database integration with your website.
WiFi
The University of Nebraska provides access to the internet and university resources via a wireless network available on campus as well as many common outdoor areas.
Zoom
Zoom is a cloud-based, web collaboration service that connects multiple conference rooms and remote users for online classes, meetings and group projects.
