MyUNL Blackboard provides global web-based management and delivery of course content for all classes. University of Nebraska–Lincoln will transition to Canvas from Blackboard for all LMS activity by Summer, 2018. Blackboard access will end May 15, 2018. Data will not be retrievable after May 15, 2018.



Blackboard is an online environment allowing instructors to deliver course materials, communicate with students and create learning activities. Blackboard also can be used for distance-education courses or to supply an online component for a traditional on-campus course. Instructors and students can find out more information about My.UNL/Blackboard and other teaching technologies, and training on our Learning Spaces page.

There is no charge for this service, which is considered a common-good service.

Access to Blackboard ends May 15th, 2018 Monday, December 18, 2017

Canvas is the default Learning Management System (LMS) at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.

Students: please review your student assignments (projects, papers) in Blackboard and download the material you want to save/have access to. Access to Blackboard will end on May 15, 2018. Instructions for downloading your student content is available via the Student Guide.

Faculty: Canvas is the default LMS at UNL, the Spring 2018 semester is the final semester for access to Blackboard. All courses must be migrated from Blackboard to Canvas by May 15, 2018. Instructions for downloading Blackboard content is available via the Faculty Guide. Almost one year ago, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln announced the selection of Canvas by Instructure for its online Learning Management System.  

  • For the Fall 2017 semester, all courses will be available in Canvas.  
  • Courses in Blackboard will be available only upon request. 
  • June 2018 will finalize the transition and Blackboard will no longer be available
