Information Technology Services works hard to maintain consistency in the design and function of the classroom technology we support.  The following equipment standards help our users know what to expect when they walk into any General Purpose classroom.

ITS Supported Classrooms

Media Ready (MR)

This standard features a video projection system, sound re-enforcement, and laptop connectivity.  No in-room computer is provided (BYOD).

  • lower installation, maintenance & energy costs

  • ideal for very small rooms where furnishings that house the equipment would otherwise encroach on seating space

Small Classroom (SCL)

Powerful, easy to use.  The small classrooms standard features sound re-enforcement, PC, document camera, laptop connection, and Bluray player.

  • Push button controls
  • Equipment is remotely monitored to provide the best possible support

Large Classroom (LCL)

All the features of the Small Classroom (SCL) with the addition of microphones and hearing assistive devices.

  • push button or touch screen controls

  • independent microphone and source volume control

  • a hearing assistance device is available for those with a hearing impairment

  • lecture capture support with UNL Academic Video

Lecture Hall (LH)

The largest General Purpose classroom standard.  All the features of a Large Classroom (LCL) with the addition of an iClicker base station, single or dual (DPL) high lumen projection, and advance controls.

Collaborative Classrooms

ITS is currently working with Academic Affairs to develop collaborative, or active learning, classrooms.  There are currently nine General Purpose rooms featuring moveable furniture and wrap-around white board space.  An additional five rooms opened in Louise Pound Hall for Fall 2018.  Many of these rooms have priority scheduling for certain courses but space may be available if a department is interested in using these spaces.
